Winter Session -  Life in the Colonies!

 

Hear ye! Hear ye!

This history class is designed to create a hands-on learning experience that drives the history of life in the colonies home in a fun way!  Your child will be learning about: America's Colonies Inceptio, The Colonial Home, Clothing, Food, Family Life, School, Faith in the Colonies, Villages & Cities, Health & Medicine, Artisans, Crime & Punishment, Plantations & Slavery, Pleasures & Pastimes, and Holidays! Learning will be fun when they play games the children played including Graces, Nine Pins, Teetotum and more! This class ends with a rousing game of Colonial Life Jeopardy while sampling foods the colonists enjoyed.

 

Spring Session - The British Are Coming, The British Are Coming!

 

This history class is designed to create a hands-on learning experience that drives the history of the American Revolution home in a fun way! Your child will be covering the politics and conflicts that launched a new nation, such as: Colonial beginnings, the French & Indian War, problems leading up to the revolution, Continental Congress, General Washington, women of the war, several specific battles, many important figures who stood for the cause of liberty, and much more!

 

Learning history will be fun through such games as “Taxation Frustration”, “Be a Minuteman”, “Battle Blitz” and “Liberty at Last”. Students will create projects such as a replica of Jamestown, a Diorama of Valley Forge, do Ben Franklin Science Experiments, and learn the tricks George Washington used to spy on the British. This class is designed as a Part 2 to the winter U.S. History class on New World Explorers and Colonial Life.
