In this class, we will focus on age appropriate US history for primary-aged learners. Our hands-on projects, movies and story books will help the timeless stories of the creation of our nation be a strong part of our children's knowledge of our country!
This quarter we will focus on Colonial America! The Founding of Jamestown will be fun while we recreate the fort of Jamestown, make Colonial Jonny Cakes and churn butter, learn to track animals, and make friends with Pocohontas! We'll color maps of the 13 colonies, make replicas of Native American huts and log cabins as we learn about what it was like for both Native Americans and newly arrived colonists. We'll make and play with colonial toys, like a rag doll! We'll learn about the famous people of Colonial America and how they lived. Through short films, hands on activities, stories and our own Journals, we'll have a full experience of what it was like in Colonial America!
In the Spring we'll learn all about the American Revolution. We'll continue with both hands-on projects and our Journal. We'll be learning about the Boston Tea Party, Paul Revere's Midnight Ride, General Washington and the other Founding Fathers, our Declaration of Independence, The Liberty Bell and so much more! Prepare to learn about the pivotal events in the creation of our country! Again, we'll use short films, games, activities and our Journals to have a fun experience of what it was like during the time of the American Revolution!
