Your child/ren this quarter will continue to learn/review the names of the days of the week, months, colors, shapes, numbers, letters, weather, seasons, and numbers in Spanish. We will also focus on learning the names and geographic location of all the North America and Central American (Spanish speaking) countries: Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. Within this realm we will explore the culture, music, and traditions of these countries through music, dance, games, art, and some light cooking. Your child/ren will get a chance to make maracas, piñatas, guacamole, tortillas, and taste some traditional foods. They will learn about some famous Latin American painters like Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. Speaking, Speaking, and more Speaking is extremely important when learning a second language. For this reason, we have included a dab of theater, this quarter, in which your child/ren will practice speaking in complete simple sentences in Spanish by participating in skits/play. This is a great class for vocabulary enrichment and exposure to different cultures of the world.
