Quest in Science is proud to once again work with Huckleberry in providing fun, hands-on science by offering this course on Science Exploration!
Putting Newtons Laws Into Motion: Forces and Engineering
Students will enjoy exploring what makes objects move and why. Newtons three laws will be investigated with hands on experiments. They will learn about inertia, unbalanced forces, acceleration, friction, equal and opposite forces and gravity. In the last few weeks of the course, the class will be given a problem each group work to design a solution.
Air and Space & Earth's Dynamic Atmosphere
This unit focuses on different forms of flight (paper airplanes, balloons kites, and rockets). We will also explore what it takes to survive in space and the demands of the space program on astronauts and spacecrafts. Students will investigate, in a hands-on way, inertia, gravity, and weightlessness. Students will also study the history of space exploration and the technological achievements made so far.
When we study the Earth's Atmosphere, students will create convection currents, investigate air pressure, and experiment with solar heating to understand how each factor affects the state of the atmosphere and the weather we experience.
Marine Biology and Physical Oceanography
In this amazing course students will investigate the interplay of powerful forces that shape the ocean shores and floors. They will study the properties of water and the composition of sand. Students will also handle and observe specimens, study their taxonomy, and learn about the vast resources of the marine environment.
