Is your child a budding super-creative photographer/artist? Cell phone photography has developed into one of the most cutting-edge media-making art forms out there. And it’s not going away! Chances are they are using the same tools and software to make their photos fun and special as all of the other kids. My class will teach them basic design concepts such as composition, color theory, balance and emphasis, in addition to technical camera skills and the use of advanced software programs. In addition, we will study photo history in a fun, relevant way and work on story-telling skills and personal expression. We will harness your child’s unique personality to explore unique conceptual exploration.
I’ll be training the kids to go beyond the ordinary snapshot and become real photographic artists. This class will teach them skills they will be able to use in all their artistic endeavors.
In addition to having a Master of Fine Arts degree from CalArts I have worked as a successful commercial and fine artist. My main art form is photography. I started working in darkrooms in high school and immediately fell in love with the art of photography. After getting my MFA from CalArts in film and video, I got a job in the digital effects industry in the art department of a major Hollywood post-production facility. I continued to do my own work as an award-winning filmmaker and photographer, which
helped me get a grant from The National Endowment for the Arts. As a photographer I have worked as a photojournalist, magazine photographer and photo editor. My work has been viewed in all kinds of media and galleries nationally.
