Shakespeare Kids
​Mike Anderson is a writer, actor, comedian and Father. He received his classical acting training at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and improvisation with the Upright Citizens Brigade. Writing: Honorable Mention, Screencraft TV Pilot competition. Third place, UCLA pilot competition. Was featured in the Hollywood Reporter as a writer to watch. Plays at Red Bull Short Play Festival, published by Stage Rights. Acting: Comedy of Errors, Othello, and Three Musketeers (Alabama Shakespeare Festival), Love's Labour's Lost and Romeo and Juliet (Riverside Shakespeare Festival), The Foreigner (Pioneer Theater), Bell, Book, and Candle (Triad Stage), Fat Pig (Speakeasy Stage), The Rover (New York Classical Theater), as well as the Off-Broadway premiere of The Invested. He wrote and starred in the sketch series "Gubers" at Second City Los Angeles. Teaching: Workshops for Riverside Shakespeare Festival, Sioux City East High School, as well as Young Storytellers and Reading Partners in Los Angeles.

Class Description:
Join us for another year of new lessons in Ancient History! Who was Alexander the Great? What was the Great Serpent Mound or The Rosetta Stone? Ever hear of the March of the 10,000? Each week we will learn about a new event or person in ancient history. Lessons will be taught in collaboration with the students and fun facts they bring in each week. We then bring in a theatrical spin to what we’ve learned and act out these historical figures and moments with improvisation games and character exploration living it on our feet and sometime rewriting history in the process. Our students need no previous experience in theatre or history to enjoy this program. We take all levels. It should be noted that history does have some mature content and while we will be very sensitive to this, our suggested age range for the class should be taken into consideration. This program lasts for an entire year of new conflicts in history, and as with our other classes, you can sign up for 1 or more of the sessions.
