Class Fees: $240 or $230 if taking 2 or more classes
Course Objectives: To give students a solid foundation and understanding of dance in a broad artistic, cultural, and creative context with multiple frameworks inside which students can understand and appreciate movement and dance throughout their lives.
Course Description: Activities include stretching, yoga, creating, and performing dance. Students will work collaboratively to choreograph a 1:30 to 2-minute Pop Jazz/Hip-hop dance routine. Students 10 years old and up of all abilities are welcome. All genders are welcome! There will be a performance at the end of the 10 weeks of the students collaborative Pop Jazz/ Hip-hop routine. Students should practice at home, so they can remember what they have learned the week before. No costume fee is needed.
Materials Needed: Water bottle, towel or yoga mat, gym or active wear clothing.
Week 1 -10 Activities:
Yoga and stretching -basic yoga flow and stretching to warm up
Movement across the floor- practice leaps and turns two by to
choreography 8 counts – collaboratively create a dance routine 8 counts at a time.
