Come join me this fall for Mostly Magnets & Other Science Experiments! In this class students will learn about magnetism, static electricity, electromagnetism, electrical connections, and the history of electricity. The students will discover the principals of magnetism and electricity through engaging hands on activities. Students will read mini books that will be ideal in providing necessary con-tent in a succinct, creative format.
In the magnet section students will do activities to discover that magnets have opposite polls, make a compass, build an electromagnet, sort magnetic and non magnetic materials, and quantify magnetic strength.
In the static electricity sections students will discover that like charges repel while unlike charges attract. They will learn that static electricity occurs when electrons are transferred from one object to another through friction, giving positive or negative charge to objects.
In the electricity section the students will learn about circuits, switches, and the path electricity takes. They will learn that it must have an uninterrupted conducting path. They will build a complete working circuit for a culminating activity.
The electromagnetism section introduces students to the relationship between electricity and magnetism as they build a electromagnet.
