Come learn how the world works in our Quest in Science course, Physics Concepts. Each week students will participate in hands-on laboratory experiments to reinforce the concepts learned. This first quarter will be spent learning the "how" things move in our world. We will explore speed and velocity as we race cars down a tract. We will examine acceleration and deceleration of objects. We will also shoot off projectiles to study their path. This course is created to stimulate curiosity and interest in science and provide a stronger understanding of our world.
In the winter quarter we continue learning how the world works. Each week students will participate in hands-on laboratory experiments to reinforce the concepts learned. Winter quarter will focus on the "why" things move in our world, dynamics. We will study forces and their impact on all objects. We will examine Newton’s laws of motion in a series of experiments giving the students the conceptual understanding of why objects move. Students will also participate in an end-of-quarter project that they will design and build to demonstrate their understanding of dynamics.
Spring Quarter will focus on energy and energy transfer. We will examine waves of light, sound and springs. We will work with electricity and circuits.
