In this class students will enhance their reading comprehension skills through reading Caldecott Medal winning books, such as, “Where the Wild Things Are” and “Owl Moon.”  We will also use some Dr. Seuss books, such as “Green Eggs and Ham” and “Hop on Pop” for rhyming and alliteration. We will have engaging class discussions on why the story was important, create story re-tells through the use of puppets and storyboards, make predictions on what will happen next and they will also write (or draw!) their own endings to stories!   Students will be working in small groups to create their own stories to share with the class, using puppets, a storyboard, or other ways of creating a shared story!   During this time they will start to become experts at figuring out plot and conflict, and of course, conflict resolution!   Come and join us for this fun and gentle class in Language Arts!
