Join me as we go on an adventure back in time to the early days of America. We will begin with European exploration studying Columbus, Cartier, de Champlain and Hudson. Students will learn map making and map reading skills. Then we sail on to early colonization with visits to Roanoke Island, Jamestown and Plymouth Plantation. Students will learn about the Seven Year’s War and the Treaty of Paris, slavery in America and exactly what their lives were like. We'll even take some time out to learn how to tie ropes like a sailor! Students will travel with the Eastern Native American tribes and learn about their ways of life and even cook a traditional Iroquois soup! Students will then hitch their wagons and travel to colonial life. They will learn about the daily life of a colonial family. Students will play games that the children enjoyed including graces and marbles. They will even cook a colonial dessert and make a candle. Students will meet a who’s who in colonial history including Washington, Jefferson and Franklin. Lastly, of course, they will learn of the events leading to and including the Revolutionary War and the formation of a new government.
