Merriam-Webster defines ethics as follows:

ethics plural in form but singular or plural in construction  : the discipline dealing with what is good and bad and with moral duty and obligation
a: a set of moral principles : a theory or system of moral values
b: the principles of conduct governing an individual or a group
               c: a guiding philosophy
d: a consciousness of moral importance

What does all this mean? Where did the study of ethics come from? How do we discuss ethics in the modern world and do the same ideas apply anymore?

In this discussion-based class, we will delve into the history of ethics, attack some classic ethical dilemmas, and apply what we’ve learned to modern-day issues. And hopefully we’ll come away with a better sense of what we believe in!
