Dance with confidence, while having fun & getting in your workout!
Expand your dance vocabulary, strengthen your core and lengthen your stretch. Explore and experience a group dance class, while learning a silent language though movement. Improve your muscle memory and test your skills with a performance. On our last week we will perform our personally choreographed dance!
Help those who like to move through space with music, feel more confident.
Through repetition comes familiarity and confidence of all skills.
Our music will be World music, which will broaden our ability to appreciate different cultures and enhance our ability to feel all types of music. Our selections will include

Drum beats -Taiko Drums
Movie Sound tracks (instrumental)
There is a lot of vocabulary to learn in Dance! We'll be learning the following terms as we develop our skills.
Musical- Staccato, Allegro, Piano, Measures, etc.
Dance- Plié, Tondue, Chassé, Relévé, etc.
Spacial awareness- Stage directions,“Dance Bubble”, Diagonal and traveling safety with others.
(Water breaks half way through class)
Week1- Learn the structure of a dance class through experience. Body Alignment, breathing, basic positions of feet. Warm up, stretch, Cardio, cool down
Week2- Warm up, stretch, across the floor with travel steps cool down, Learning beginning of piece.
Week3- Warm up. Stretch, strengthen core, learning and review of group piece. Rhythm/Tempo Game
Week4- Warm up, Stretch, balancing for turns and across the floor turns. Working in pairs.
Week5- Warm up, stretch, Jumps with two feet and one foot. Kicks across the floor, Split into groups for choreographing sessions.
Week6- Warm up, stretch, Cardio, across the floor and cool down. Choreograph in groups. Finish piece
Week7- Warm up, stretch, balancing for turns. Think about what it takes to put on a dance show, work on piece.
Week8- Warm up, stretch, core strength, stage direction games, assign who will work lights, sound, etc.
Week9- Warm up, stretch, across the floor. Solidify steps and stage orientation of piece.
Week10- Warm up and perform dance piece.
