Adventures in California History is a hands-on experience of the development of our wonderful state, from the Ice Age to present time!  We start with the La Brea Tar Pits where we get to see what roamed our land thousands of years ago!   We will map the geography of California’s regions and mountains, lakes and deserts. We will learn the Native American tribes and make a wigwam, and map the California Spanish Explorers.  We'll learn about Mexican Colonization and build a Presidio.   We'll study Father Serra and his trek through California, follow the El Camino Real, and see the impact of his presence. We will learn about the hard life at a mission, the Mexican American war and The Gold Rush and the 49ers. The students will be learning a weekly lesson supplemented with worksheets on their learning or projects so there will always be evidence of learning for your monthly learning meetings!
