HOMEWORK: Continued daily practice is REALLY NECESSARY, now, we’ll start building skills, and work on reading. Shorter practice sessions are best, 2 in a day that are 10 min each, is better than one 25 minute practice at this point. Stability is absolutely necessary when beginning a new instrument.
New students to the class must audition to see if they are at an appropriate level. Being too advanced may lead to boredom, being too new to playing may make them feel that playing an instrument is too hard. Private lessons are available for students who want to start, and eventually join the class.
This session we’ll work on our reading skills. This is a combination of rhythm and decoding pitch. Students will need their OWN STANDS for home practice. I will provide stands for class.
The class will play in unison for the majority of the school year, eventually breaking into small sections and learning to play different parts to create more complex music.
