Teacher: Penny Sande
Class Fees: $245 or $230 if taking 2 or more classes per trimester. Can be split into 3 equal payments.
Material fees: $0 you will need to continue rent or purchase an instrument, but also get a shoulder rest and MUSIC STAND.
Now we can read notes (at least as they relate to the D string), students will continue our work to read our notes on the A String. As this is a continuing class, we will now divide into groups and begin work on playing duets (two different parts that intertwine together to form a more complex expression of music).
Students will continue to be responsible to practice their parts. Each week, we will have melodies we work on, along with exercises (or drills) that will be new each week.
This semester there will be an end of semester performance of our two very best songs. But that is not all! We will be working on more than just two, so the last day of class (May 27th) we will have a mini performance which we will show you all that we've accomplished.
New students to the class must audition to see if they are at an appropriate level. Being too advanced may lead to boredom, being too new to playing may make them feel that playing an instrument is too hard. Private lessons are available for students who want to start, and eventually join the class.
This session we’ll work on our reading skills. This is a combination of rhythm and decoding pitch. Students will need their OWN STANDS for home practice. I will provide stands for class.
The class will play in unison for the majority of the school year, eventually breaking into small sections and learning to play different parts to create more complex music.

I'm really proud of our students and hope that you all continue!
