Students will explore the life, career and portrait creations of an important artists of the 20th century: Amedeo Modigliani.
Students will create their own masterpiece inspired by the elongated figures, asymmetrical compositions and simple but monumental use of line presence in Modigliani’s portrait paintings. To do that, students will first practice by copying the portrait and then color in with oil pastels.
Students will become familiar with a principal element of art: Value. This will help students make good decisions that will lead to a contrasted picture while creating composition in their own art work. To experiment with value, students will create bookmarks that they will color and laminate.
To understand the emotional impact that colors have while creating art, students will choose between warm or cold color palette to create their art piece. Their will first sketch their composition (Volkswagen Van design) and then color it in.
Students will learn how to create 2 point perspective objects and architecture. To practice, Students will draw three-dimensional cubes that will help understand the theory. After that, they will create a drawing of a street from a two point perspective.
Students will also create a Tree in chromatic shade and Zen tangle art peace. To do this, students will learn about Zen tangle art and nature art.
