Animal Art & Science
Teacher: Jacki Solis
Mat Fees: $35
Class Fees: $240 or $230 if taking 2 or more classes
Come learn about different habitats & animals, and complete art projects in every class! From the Rainforest to the North Pole, we’ll be investigating all types of environments while we conduct scientific experiments to understand how clouds form, why sharks are buoyant, how the arctic fox camouflages itself, animal adaptations to their environments and so much more! Come explore the animal kingdom through art and science!
Day 1 & 2: The Rainforest! Learn how clouds form by making one in a bottle! We’ll also make a shave cream rain cloud and create an oil pastel Toucan!
Day 3: The North Pole! Learn how blubber keeps animals warm in this freezing cold environment! Learn all about Polar Bears, and then make one out of clay!
Day 4: All about the Oceans! We’ll read Down, Down, Down A Journey to the Bottom of the Sea, and then conduct our experiment to show how sharks stay buoyant. We’ll also paint our own shark!
Day 5: All about Dessert Animals! We’ll learn how they survive the desert and draw our own Armadillo!
Day 6: We’re in the Wetlands today where we’ll learn all about alligators
Day 7 & 8: The Tundra! We’ll learn about the Arctic Fox and other animals that survive the tundra, and then make an art project exploring Winter Camouflaging
Day 9: Mountain Environments: The mountains can be a very dangerous and difficult place to live. We’ll explore how animals have adapted to living in mountainous environments, run a science experiment on adaptations, and make our own Standing Bear!
Day 10: Insects! Today we’ll learn all about the Butterfly Life Cycle, we’ll run an experiment on the mouth of a bug, and make a Cicada on a Ceramic Plate!
