SPRING: IMPORTANT PEOPLE AND INVENTIONS IN OUR EVER-CHANGING COUNTRY continued!

We have been learning about so many amazing people and invention that shaped the way we live today. There are so many events and people we couldn’t get through in Winter so we will continue to learn about more inventions and the innovators who came up with these ideas from the 1800s to the 1900s!   We will learn by way of story reading, discussion, skits, review games, and occasionally a video or two! Through this study we will also cross through some major events of our more recent history!   We will make flip books and re-create some of the inventions that we study, including The Wright Brothers Bicycle and Flyer, using Knex Gear Shifts to understand the gears that allowed Henry Ford to make the car, and learning how to read Braille!    Students will reenact specific moments in the lives of these important people using props in short skits as we learn.   We will create models that our inventors made, like Ben Franklin's Glass Harmonica and the Wright Brother’s air flyer, and view real examples of the inventions that we learn about! We will use Venn diagrams to compare our land and life THEN to NOW! Kids will love learning each week as interaction is always valued and encouraged and review happens each week!
